A photo series using Mario Kart World’s photo mode, as an excuse to further explore the tracks featured. I realized as I was playing that the environments, beyond the usual tracks, featured a TON of additional details and secrets that better place them within the world created for this game, and I wanted to see what I could showcase within that.

These are being shared on my Bluesky, one track per day starting on September 25, 2025. The comments from each post will be added here as well.

Rules:

  • 1 photo per track
  • Using Rosalina, Touring outfit, riding the Mach Rocket
  • No outside edits, only using the features of the game’s photo mode.

Heads Up!

This is currently a work-in-progress project. Every photo is prepped, but I’m sharing them once per day on Bluesky, and will update this page after every 10 tracks posted.

Starview Peak

I had to introduce the whole thing here so no comments on Bluesky. I will say here, I love the vibes of every Rosalina-themed track that they make in Mario Kart and this one is a prime example of that. Giving her Snow/Ice themed tracks meshes well with the space theming, and this track in particular does a good job feeling like she made an observatory on Earth, which is a really cool idea.

The Great ? Block Ruins

Haha funny brick :3 (For real though, I think this track is pretty interesting and unique, especially for being one of the more tucked-away tracks in the game.)

Crown City

Very pretty and detail-packed track, but also I like that every single Mario character just… has a business, for some reason…

Cheep Cheep Falls

Overall a very beautiful course with some of my favorite water features. The falls themselves are really fun!

Meanwhile I show none of that and show a kite instead (I liked the angle and the framing with the moon :3c )

Moo Moo Meadows

cow

Desert Hills

I’ll eat all this sand later.

(I had some trouble with a specific area to get my picture at, but this track has a good general vibe and “lots of sand” is a major point of this track so I found my muse eventually!)

Peach Stadium

This track kinda is the “new standard stadium track” of the game, so I figured it’d make the most sense for a more standard racing picture! I like how it’s also the centerpiece of the world map to match this stadium theming.

Wario Shipyard

Can… can we get a Pirate-Themed Wario Land? I mean his rival is a pirate, and he has THIS, so…

Sky-High Sundae

It’s really funny to me that this is now “The Tour Track”, since it may have been weird to add the real-world tracks here. It’s developed more than before though, like a colorful amusement park, and I love that!

Toad’s Factory

MY FAVORITE COURSE OF ALL TIME CAME BACK AND THEY MADE IT SO GOOD OMG 💜💜💜💜

It already had more “story” than a lot of the courses in Mario Kart as a whole, and expanding the factory only made it better!

Dry Bones Burnout

I love the visual style of this track, though I wish they had committed more to it with MORE decorations.

(Also, looking at the definition of “burnout” as far as racing goes does not tell me why it’s called this, uh)

Peach Beach

I’m just thinking about it but this is a really good example of how some Retro courses have evolved to use “Sections” instead of “Laps” in this game, and it works here to give the resort more life.

(Also Cataquack Moment)

Faraway Oasis

Waow, Zebra…

I like that they’re adding more and more real animals into the Mario Universe now, they’re all so round and it’s really silly 💜

Boo Cinema

This track is really great for being an actually new “ghost” level. A lot of previous tracks use a haunted house, or a haunted boardwalk, and doing the “haunted theater” thing is very fun!

Shy Guy Bazaar

PLEASE USE SARASALAND MORE, this is a wonderful retooling of an old track to include lore like THAT as well. Also, Daisy ruling over a kingdom of Shy Guys is an amazing concept. Please do that.

Airship Fortress

It feels very strange that everyone’s just cool with Bowser just leaving his airships in a position with the potential to take over the rest of the continent, but

I guess if anything happens the Cow can take care of it.

Bowser’s Castle

Very random detail that I like here:

One of the missions in Free Roam focuses on a Food Court here, and I LOVE the idea of all the Koopas and Goombas and such meeting up and chatting over Bowser Chipotle or whatever 💜

Mario Bros. Circuit

I appreciate how unique it is compared to other “Circuit” tracks in the franchise. It blends the usual vibes well with the game’s open road theming, with the Route 66 vibes that make it more fun!

Wario Stadium

I honestly think this is the least visually detailed course. Though, this only matters in the niche case of trying to find unique screenshots (which everyone’s doing, definitely). It’s flashy and fun during races!

Dandelion Depths

On the other hand from yesterday, I really didn’t think about this track when racing on it, UNTIL I did this project and explored it more. It’s actually REALLY beautiful, waow…

More Coming Soon…
