Not one for the fast and competitive world of Pokémon, Timpani prefers to take it easy and help others with their own journeys. As a member of the _____ Wind Symphony and Gym, they deal out equal parts music and challenges to lift people’s spirits.
Overview
Timpani ends up joining a Wind Symphony in the ___ region, seeing another opportunity to share music with others. They only learned afterward that it was also a Pokémon gym, and that they’d have to participate…
Thankfully they picked up the rules of the Pokémon world fairly quickly. With their new friends helping, they managed to get a team of grass types that were fighting fit and just their vibe. Thus, they began to take on challengers who sought to reach the gym leader and get their badges.
With so many members of the Wind Symphony, they were often rotated out as other members got their battles in. Thus, Timpani was often left to explore the world of Pokémon and make new discoveries! Along the way they found the other three members of their team as well!
This little team isn’t planning on going big or anything; Timpani never really had the itch to try out the Pokémon League as a competitor, or anything like that. But they find many adventures and met many new friends (trainers and Pokémon), so it’s just as worthwhile.
The Team
Listed in the order they joined Timpani
Whimsicott
Timpani’s first Pokémon, after they were instructed on how to begin obtaining them. Their meeting was a lot calmer than most, happening after Timpani had experience multiple failures in attempting to catch anything else.
The Whimsicott, originally a Cottonee, found Timpani after accidentally flying into her beret, captured by the wind. Comforted by the beret and tired from the journey, she fell asleep, and that allowed Timpani to comfort her and gain her trust naturally. The two quickly became friends, and began their many adventures together in the gym and the greater Pokémon world.
Whimsicott is to Timpani what Pikachu is to Ash: a constant companion by Timpani’s side, out of her Pokéball. The two are rarely seen apart. Whimsicott likes trying Timpani’s fashion for herself, becoming a little expert of fashion in her own right.
Sprigatito
This was the first Pokémon Timpani actually captured through battle. A gang of Sprigatito suddenly rolled into town and began causing mischief, encouraging the gym to investigate. After some time they were able to learn that these were simply a group of stray Sprigatito, simply migrating into the town for the yummy food in the various restaurants. The gym was able to work something out, taking care of the little guys in the gym (since it was already grass-themed anyway).
At some point, one of them began getting rowdy and trying to fight all the others. He started being hard to manage, concerning the gym as they attempted to calm him. After he tried to fight Whimsicott, Timpani offered to fight him to see if he just needed to battle. During the fight, Sprigatito and Timpani seemed to understand each other better, and out of nowhere Timpani threw a Pokéball at him. The capture was successful, and Sprigatito joined them!
While somewhat calmer now, Sprigatito still enjoys battling and is constantly trying to play with random things he sees like a normal cat. He refuses to evolve but manages to be a strong fighter in his own right, taking a worthy spot on Timpani’s gym team.
Leafeon
While on the road, Timpani stayed at a Pokémon Center for the night. During the night they couldn’t sleep, and went for a walk. Upon returning, Timpani noticed one of the trading machines on, though no one seemed to be around to use it. While one side was empty as expected, the other had a Pokéball, a Leaf Stone, and a little plush. The screen on the machine simply said “for you” with an emblem familiar to Timpani.
The Pokéball contained an Eevee, who quickly took a shine to Timpani as if it recognized her. With the strange message and how familiar they were to the little Eevee, they had no choice but to take her along.
The Eevee remained unevolved for a time, as the two got used to each other and began training together to be ready for battles. After a short time she was ready to evolve, and became a Leafeon with the Leaf Stone included with her.
Leafeon is very playful, constantly batting at Timpani and goading them into running around and playing together. She likes when the team goes out on the road to make new memories. She is really attached to specific items for the memories associated with them; her toys and other items are well-used but taken very good care of by her (and by Timpani).
Chandelure
One night, a brave Lampent went on a spree of attempting to steal souls from even people that clearly weren’t near death. he did scare most of them, though generally unsuccessful at stealing any souls. Timpani ended up being one of his targets, and he was even less successful, not even phasing her. Angry that he couldn’t even scare her, he began trying to attack her, leading to a Pokémon battle that led to her capturing him.
While Timpani knew they couldn’t use him in the gym, they were happy to have a new friend (hopefully) and have a variety of Pokémon in the world. The Lampent eventually mellowed out, enjoying being with Timpani, and became a valuable ally as he got stronger. Eventually Timpani found a Dusk Stone, and the Lampent was able to become a Chandelure!
After being on the team for a while, Chandelure has become a very chill Pokémon, enjoying relaxing. He’ll work hard when needed, but ONLY when needed. Presumably, having a found family made him lose the edge he had while trying to steal souls on its own, and he’s enjoyed getting to live a happier life with Timpani and her crew.
Mimikyu
Mimikyu began following Timpani for a bit, and it took a while for her to realize he was there. Besides being shy, he was curious about the aura Timpani seemed to have, recognizing their umbral energy and thinking it similar to his ghostly form under the costume.
Mimikyu finally got the courage to approach one day while Timpani was shopping. He ended up tripping when reaching them, but that may have actually helped the little guy; she ended up checking on him, and eventually loving the cute little dude and asking him to join her party.
Mimikyu remains shy, but Timpani has used their past experiences to help him overcome some of that fear as he bonds with the other Pokémon on the team. Timpani tries to find new disguises for him to try; thankfully Mimikyu is better with clothcrafting than her, and the two work together to make new costumes.
Tinkaton
During a big symphony tour, Timpani and the gym ended up in the Paldea region. While there, Timpani was able to go out and explore on their own, enjoying all of the new sights and Pokémon. Timpani had the sudden idea to make their sixth Pokémon one of these Paldean residents, and that ended up becoming Tinkaton. Timpani found her in the wild and after loving her vibe (and large hammer), challenged it to a battle. The Pokémon accepted and, afterward, joined the team!
While she isn’t used on Timpani’s gym team, she does get to help out in the symphony. She’s a big fan of the percussion, though it took a bit of time for her to learn the finesse to… not break the equipment. She’s getting better though, and becoming a bigger and bigger fan of music and rhythm over time.
Inspiration
- The 6 Pokémon above are actually my top 6 Pokémon, from all my adventures in the franchise.
- The trainer outfit is based a lot on things I wear IRL!
