To clarify, Tyym Paanih is NOT the Warrior of Light. She has no echo, and no blessing from Hydelyn. However, that doesn’t stop her from doing great things, and standing proudly in the face of some of the star’s greatest challenges. This is a rough timeline of what Tyym was up to during the MSQ, and relevant events that she became involved in.
She’s never directly met the Warrior of Light, or most of the Scions. The only one she knows is G’raha Tia, who was a classmate and acquaintance of hers during her time at the Studium. She respects them and their work greatly, as people who seek to make the world a better place. And she’s been able to help them in some of their trials, even if it was from afar.

Tyym wasn’t present in the Ala Mhigan portion of the story, but had travelled to the east prior to the Warrior of Light’s arrival. She was aware of the Garlean occupation of Doma, but was at least able to travel around on her own, mostly.
She enjoyed discovering the Azim Steppe, with its wide open vistas and interesting peoples. She stayed there for a while, and was able to watch Hein and the Warrior of Light participate in the Nadaam. In particular, she loved Reunion, and appreciated the customs of the Qestir Tribe. She stuck around with them a lot, assisting the settlement and its vendors.
Shadowbringers
As someone who:
- Can’t naturally traverse shards
- Isn’t in any political position
Tyym wasn’t really involved with any major events of Shadowbringers. The closest she really got was witnessing the rise of the strange towers that Fandaniel wanted to use to bring about the Final Days. However, she ultimately just stayed far away from them.
Endwalker
It was a while before Tyym actually learned what the towers were for, along with a lot of the major happenings that occurred in Endwalker. She became more aware later, during a chance visit to Ishgard, where she was able to learn about what Garlemald had been up to, and the people who were suffering as a result of their actions.
Alongside this, she was made aware of the Ilsabard Contingent. She felt passionate for the people suffering in Garlemald, and immediately went to Lucia to see how she could join the excursion. Though initially hesitant, Lucia saw the passion in the Elezen and decided to add her to the convoy.
The initial escort into (what became) Camp Broken Glass went without too much trouble, and Tyym remained here for a while. She was more than happy to help as Garlean refugees began entering the camp. Despite their often-negative outlook towards receiving this help, they were generally kinder with Tyym.
Her musical prowess ended up becoming of great use when the camp was thrown into chaos by the Tower of Babil and the Garlean refugees were almost put under its thrall. Sort of by accident, Tyym found that her music blocked out the energy from the tower and soothed the temperance that could have occurred. She remembered her studies from the Studium, and used this to protect a lot of the refugees, at least long enough for the chaos to subside and for the Scions/healers to begin work untempering them completely. After this, Tyym remained in Camp Broken Glass for a while longer, continuing to care for any refugees that passed through. She additionally did her part to quell the Beasts of the Final Days when they began to appear. Her music was said to have stopped people from turning in some cases, inspiring those around her to push past their despair.
Eventually, the call was made for adamantite to support the construction of the Ragnarok. Tyym ended up in a party to deliver a batch of it (along with other supplies) to Old Sharlayan, at the request of Lucia. From there, she remained to see the Scions off, and until she could celebrate their return from Ultima Thule. This ended up being the first time in a long time that she saw G’raha Tia once again, and was able to catch up for a bit, excited to know one of the saviors of her star.
Dawntrail
When Tyym was little, her parents took her to Tural a couple times. She enjoyed it a ton, and wanted to return at some point to explore further. Her first solo trip happened to be a little bit after the Warrior of Light made it, so she got to witness the excitement of the Dawnservant trials. This didn’t stop her from exploring on her own as well; in particular she was curious about the Golden City referenced in the trials. Her father had previously been on the trail of it, after learning about it from Galool Ja Ja, and she wanted to see if she could follow up on his exploration. While she didn’t see it before Wuk Lamat and her team, she still managed to travel far throughout Tural, seeing new sights with her new exploring prowess.
During Zoral Ja’s initial raid on Tulliyolal, Tyym had happened to return to the city a few days prior. She ended up entangled in the fight to protect those in need, against the seemingly endless drones that sought to capture souls. While not an amazing fighter, she managed to protect a good number of civilians, getting them off of the streets and into safety.
After the initial raid, Tyym stuck around to provide aid to the injured and downtrodden. When Dawnservant Koana began enacting his plans for defending the city from the next attack, Tyym did her share to shore up defenses. During the next fight, Tyym acted more as a battle bard, inspiring allies with her music as they fought harder for their city.
Afterward, Tyym continued exploring, partially to see if there was anyone else in Tural that needed some help after defending their lands from Zoral Ja. At one point she ended up finding the Golden City, Living Memory, after hearing that it HAD been discovered. It’s unknown if she was… allowed to be in there… but she explored it nonetheless.
